This unique edition is a collection of selected works from Stuart’s “Polaroid Collages,” in which the artist cuts and reassembles a series of Polaroids that document his travels and encounters.

The instant materialization of a Polaroid responds to the urgency of capturing a precious moment before it disappears. The nostalgic blur resulting from the movement of the instant camera highlights the privacy of each memory. These intimate moments captured by the artist are hand-cropped and adorned with images of the surrounding botanicals.

The pastel palette imbues these male nudes with tenderness and vulnerability, challenging traditional representations of virile masculinity. Our memories come back to us in fragments. Remembrance is a curatorial exercise where fragments of our memories are selected and reassembled in an intelligible order.
